Leader Board Update 07/18/09

This is the third update of our leader board and the competition is seriously heating up. The times are getting scorching fast. I don’t know if people just developed better techniques or if people are just getting used to stuffing five jumbo hot dogs into their faces. One thing’s for sure. People are taking this a lot more seriously now; no one’s lying down and just taking it lightly. The game is on now, friends.

Oh, and I’m running out of ideas for these banners. Ideas would be most welcome.

Let’s get started.

At the very edge of our countdown, we have a new comer and a someone lucky enough to not get bumped off the list. At the 20th and 19th positions are JOHN PAUL “WHAM, BAM, THANK YOU” LAM and EMMUANUEL “SHOTGUN” BALLESTEROS, with a time of 0:02:23.

Rounding out the bottom quarter is a three-way tie at 0:02:22, a mere second away from a five-way. 18th to 16th positions belong to TONY “NINJA SKILLS” SHU, CYRUS “INTERSTELLAR” MADELAR, MICHAEL “JAWS” SAMONTE, all of whom come from last week’s list, also in a three-way tie.

The 15th spot belongs to a returning leader board member. He placed dead last during the 07/05/09 update, and then he came back strong. From a seemingly laughable time of 0:03:01, HAKIM “SUPERPLEX” BANTO has managed to surpass probably even his expectations and get a good time of 0:02:21. Now that’s an improvement. See? People can improve at this, and it’s getting quite clear to the public who the real competitors are.

We have newbies at  the14th and 13th places, clocking in at 0:02:19 and 0:02:17 respectively. Number 14 hails from the Muñoz branch, let’s welcome NICANOR ARIES “THE GREAT RAM” GADO to this prestigious board. Lucky number 13 comes from the Imperial branch (that actually sounds quite intimidating), we have JOHN MARK “M-BOMB” MONTIER entering the fold.

At the very top of our bottom half, we have a tie at 2:02:10. If I am not mistaken, these two guys are new entrants as well. We have, from the AIC Gale branch, MACARIO “MAPANGANIB” PERALTA, and from the Mabini 10 branch, JEFFERY “SCUD” MISA! Good job, guys.

Here’s our top 10.

At the lowest point of our top half was the guy who stood at the very top of the boards two weeks ago. LEOPOLDO “BLACK HOLE” QUINTO stays in it at 0:02:09.

At 9th, we have someone whom I suspect is female because of the name. I would really, really love to get confirmation on that. If I’m wrong though, that’s really embarrassing. Sorry, man. Anyway, the clock is at 0:02:07, and we have ESTRELLA “MUNCHIES” VILLARAZA.

7th and 8th places belong to new guys, with a time of 0:02:05. From the Marulas branch, ELDEBRANDO “MATADOR” GUEVARRA. That’s a manly name. From the Tomas Mapua branch, we’ve got PEDRO “THE BRICK” YLAGAN. At this point, I was really running out of nicknames to give.

Our former 3rd placer now has to settle for 6th. SEAN OLIVER “DIGESTIVE FURY” NECLAT falls down with a time of 0:02:00. Others just plain did better than he did. Come back and regain your spot.

At this weeks’ 5th spot, we have the guy who was at the very top last week. How quickly the mighty fall. RAYMOND “EXPLODING BAZOOKA” BAGONCIA, with a time of 0:01:56. I guess he thought breaking the 2 minute mark was good enough. Well, here’s news, people are getting better, and everyone wants that money, brother. Take it as a challenge.

The 4th spot is held by a guy I can’t help but look up to. He was at 18th place two weeks ago, with a time of 0:02:55. He trained (probably followed my training regimen), and he returned and he burst into the boards in an awesome way. He now clocks in at a blazing speed of 0:01:47. Not only did YASKER “SUPER DRAGON” YU break the 2 minute mark, but he did so after being one from the boards for a week.

The 3rd spot holder deserves to be where he is. He was in last week’s countdown at 14th place, with 0:02:32. He buckled down and broke the 2 minute mark. MARVIN “THE REAL DEAL” TROPA is now in the top 3 with a time of 0:01:46. Amazing.

Now this next guy, at the very prestigious 2nd place, is the most frequent commenter on this blog. Because of that, he’s a personal favorite of mine to win this thing. If I were a betting man, and I am, this guy will reach the top of the boards at least once before this whole thing ends. He had me change his nickname, and he certainly lives up to is. Last week, he clocked in at 0:02:29, landing at the 13th spot. This week, KYLE “THE BEAST” DE GUZMAN chopped one whole minute off his time, coming in at 0:01:30. Good job, buddy.

Ah, but the top dog this week is certainly no slouch either. This guy already had a comfortable 2nd place status last week, being the first one to break the 2 minute mark. Instead of resting on his laurels, he got up, he loosened his belt, and then he marched down to a 7-11 and he broke his own record and the 1 minute, 30 second mark. With an inhuman, jaw-dropping time of 0:01:16, let’s give it up for our number 1 man this week, JOHN PAUL “EL MACHO” ARAGONCILLO!

What does this tell you, guys? This just means that you can get better. With a little practice, you can ensure yourself a spot in the finals for a chance to humiliate 19 other guys and go to the bank with half a million pesos and a full stomach.
