Leader Board Update as of 08/01/09

With only a few days left in the elimination rounds, the competition is really blazing, and I do mean BLAZING. The slowest time for this week is only at 0:01:54. That kind of time would have landed on first place the first couple weeks.

Remember, the eliminations last only until August 15, 2009. All of our competitors have been training and practicing and the race for half a million bucks is becoming more and more serious as the weak are eliminated from the board. It seems that skill and technique play the biggest part in this, although I guess having a huge appetite and a larger-than-average mouth will help, as well.

This week, I don’t think we have a 25th entrant. The list I received had a highlight on only 24 contestants. I think this is because number 25 and 26 tied, and instead of just picking one of them, which would seem unfair to the other one, the list only comprised of 24 entrants. The last two spots shared the 26th spot, as well, anyway.

24th and 23rd spot falls to a newcomer, ALEJANDRO “LONG NAME” SARMENTO and JOHN PAUL “WHAM, BAM, THANK YOU” LAM, with a time of 0:01:54. I remember the latter guy from two weeks ago. He has returned triumphantly but he cut his time by almost 30 seconds.

Dropping to the 22nd spot is the guy who shares a name with the Meyor of Manila, Alfredo Lim. AlFREDO “THE MAYOR?!” LIM retains his time at 0:01:53.

JOHN MARK “M-BOMB” MONTIEL is at our 21st spot, with a time of 0:01:51. Following him at 20th place is newbie PETRONILO “TORPEDO” TORREDES, with a time of 0:01:49.

Sharing the 19th and 18th spots are JOHN MICHAEL “BATTERING” RAMOS and ALFER JOHN “FIGHT BITE” DELANTAR, a new guy to the boads, at 0:01:48. Following them is leader board alumnus YASKER “SUPER DRAGON” YU, at 17th place, with a time of 0:01:47.

MARVIN “THE REAL DEAL” TROPA is still on the board at 16th with a time of 0:01:46. RONALD “THE STING” MARTINEZ also remains strong in the boards at 15th place, clocking in at 0:01:44. A tie lands at the 14th and 13th spot, with a time of 0:01:40. The positions see ARIEL “DOC” SAMSON and ALVIN “DOUBLE A” ALUNDAY standing strong.

At 12 place, we have a new guy- CHRISTOPHER “MONKEY EATING” DEMAGUILA, clocking in at 0:01:39. 11th spot holds MICHAEL “JAWS’ SAMONTE, still in the boards, at 0:01:37.

Just at the edge of the top 10 are REY “GUN” MAHILUM and BRYAN “KUNG FU” LIM ANG, taking up 10th and 9th spots. Their time is an impressive 0:01:30. At 8th place this week is ARGIE “STRONGMAN” SAMSON, who was on the board last week but immediately outdid himself this week with 0:01:28. Good for you, Strongman. At 7th is a long time member of the board. LEOPOLDO “BLACK HOLE” QUINTO, JR. clocks in at 0:01:26.

Of all the nicknames I came up with, this one’s my favorite. AGAPITO “TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA” PAG-ONG is at 6th place, with 0:01:25. 5th place sees PAOLO JONAS “EATING RAGE” PAGUIO with 0:01:24, a mere second away from TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA. At 4th place is JAMES “SUPER SPY” PIERCE, holding a time of 0:01:19.

The top three for this week have, at 3rd place, JOHN PAUL “EL MACHO” ARAGONCILLO with 0:01:16. 2nd place is held by the highest ranking newcomer as far as I can recall. Clocking in at 0:01:15, let’s welcome JOEL “LASER” LAZAGA to the boards!

At the top of the mountain, king of all he surveys, for two weeks in a row- KYLE “THE BEAST” DE GUZMAN! He still holds the record at 0:01:07. Seems unbeatable. In my list, he even has a run of 0:01:08, which is mindblowingly impressive.
