Hot Dog Munching Videos Part 2

As we await the latest updates to our contest, I thought it would be a good time to show you yet another video. Last week, I posted part 1 of the vids, which featured RacingQueen, Inc. The researchers eventually found another video from RacingQueen, Inc. These people seem to really love what they do.

The video was uploaded by a guy who calls himself admiralangelo.

I can’t really tell who or what RacingQueen, Inc. does but I imagine it would be quite different from DancingQueen, Inc. As far as I can tell, it’s a group of people who race each other at everything. If they have a video of them racing down a hill, running backwards, that’d be cool.

The video is pretty quiet, except for the occasional laughter and encouragement. It’s got some pretty standard stuff and some solid techniques you might pick up on. The guy in a faded red (okay, it’s pink) shirt finished his set of dogs faster than his Filipino companions. Everyone was kinda behind him throughout the whole thing. One even went so far as to think it would be quite encouraging to shout out “Wow! That was fast!”

Most Hilarious Moment: At the very end of the video, the guy in the blue jacket does a double take after seeing Mr. Pink Shirt has devoured his dogs.

Leader Board Update as of 08/01/09

With only a few days left in the elimination rounds, the competition is really blazing, and I do mean BLAZING. The slowest time for this week is only at 0:01:54. That kind of time would have landed on first place the first couple weeks.

Remember, the eliminations last only until August 15, 2009. All of our competitors have been training and practicing and the race for half a million bucks is becoming more and more serious as the weak are eliminated from the board. It seems that skill and technique play the biggest part in this, although I guess having a huge appetite and a larger-than-average mouth will help, as well.

This week, I don’t think we have a 25th entrant. The list I received had a highlight on only 24 contestants. I think this is because number 25 and 26 tied, and instead of just picking one of them, which would seem unfair to the other one, the list only comprised of 24 entrants. The last two spots shared the 26th spot, as well, anyway.

Hot Dog Munching Videos Part 1

The brain trust, the geniuses behind this competition and website, did a little research and found a whole lot of videos of people doing their challenges. Some of them are quite disgusting, others educational. Some are so dragging and long that when you fall asleep, you’ll feel as if you’re still watching them. One common thing that spreads across the videos is that they are all unintentionally hilarious. Let’s have a look at the first video.

This is Anne Kristelene Rivera Año, eating it out over at 7-11, Sta. Lucia branch. The video was uploaded by edrah.

Now, the key thing to note here in this video is her unerring look of determination as she forces down hot dog after hot dog. You almost kinda feel sorry for her. Almost. I mean, look at her struggle. Okay, she doesn’t look to be in much pain. She even looks like she’s thinking about other things. Like, how the hell she got talked into doing it.

Leader Board Update as of 07/25/09

This week, our fourth update, we’ve got a ton of new entrants breaching the top, and we’ve got some heavy eaters returning with a vengeance. I put out a bet in the last update and it seems to have come true. The board this week is proof that hard work and dedication seriously pay off. Stuffing one’s face has never been this GLORIOUS!

Oh, and I have an announcement. This week, we’re getting the top 25! That’s right, people. 5 more slots opened up, 5 more chances for you to get into the semi-finals.

I find that the most difficult thing to do every week is to come up with new nicknames. So guys, if you have nicknames you want, tell me so I can use those instead of the extremely uncreative ones I use. Thanks. All right, let’s get down to it.

Eating Machine Videos!

Every time I post a video, I encourage you guys to post your own videos of your time trials. Fortunately for me, since I am running out of things to write really fast, our very own Gladiator, Mr. Ryan Santelices, sent in his video. Thanks for sharing this, man! Here it is:

Dude, you’ve got a lot of fans. I know you did much better than this. You had what? 3 minutes? And is that guy screaming in the background your coach? He’s a real motivator. I wonder, does having someone do that to you helpful or does it become more distracting?

You can see him utilize some professional eating techniques. Awesome stuff.

Up next, we have a couple of videos shared to us by Armi, a commenter on this here site. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. I’m not entirely sure, though, if we have permission from the guys who uploaded these videos if we can use them. Armi, do we have permission? Meh, either way, they’re on youtube so they’re free game, but if you want them down, we’ll take em’ down, is everyone cool with that? Okay, great.

This one’s from Revolution X. Apparently, he’s from the Rockwell branch, and he kinda failed badly. WARNING: He kinda swears here a little bit. If you’re under 18, don’t watch the next video. Parents, do your job. I’m not entirely sure I’m allowed to put that there, but I’ll take it down as soon as I get in trouble for it. Here it is:

The competition is heating up and it is getting extremely intense. To cleanse our palettes a little bit, I decided to just do something for fun here for a change. Let’s all cool our heels and enjoy looking at cute animals, such as this one, while we learn more about our hot dogs.

Leader Board Update 07/18/09

This is the third update of our leader board and the competition is seriously heating up. The times are getting scorching fast. I don’t know if people just developed better techniques or if people are just getting used to stuffing five jumbo hot dogs into their faces. One thing’s for sure. People are taking this a lot more seriously now; no one’s lying down and just taking it lightly. The game is on now, friends.

Speedy G, Boy Dilim and Abibay!

In keeping with the tradition of professional eaters and their nicknames, I present to you Speedy G, Boy Dilim (love that name, bro) and Abibay. They’re here to give us tips for winning this competition. These are, unsurprisingly, extremely helpful tips. Here we go:

This video debuted at the official launch last month, and I think Speedy G is that speed talker I missed. I am thoroughly impressed. And I thought I couldn’t shut up. Also, there’s really something I thoroughly enjoy about seeing a girl wave a hot dog around. Thumbs up, guys.

Oh, and this is also a shout out to anyone who may want to post a video of their runs at the stores. Send the links over so we can feature them here. It doesn’t matter if you broke into the leader board or not. Just have fun and send us the vid. If we like it, we’ll feature it.

Leader Board Update 07/13/09

We’re rolling into the second update of our competition and it looks like a whole lot of you have stepped up their digestive game. We’ve got a new top dog with an amazing time, toppling our number one contender from last week. We also have a number of new entrants into the top 20, all with incredible, borderline inhuman eating times. Before we move on with the list, I want to remind all of you that this is far from over, these are just the current standings as of July 13, 2009. You still have until August 15, 2009 to reach the top 20 or get a higher rank to ensure yourself a spot.

Hot Dog Eating Technique: Japanese Style

I’ve been searching around the internet for hot dog eating techniques and I think I may have found something that might help those who want to join the contest. It is apparently known as the Japanese hot dog eating style, maybe because the Japanese originated it, like most things in this world. I am really trying to not sound accidentally racist here.

As we know, right now the top two hot dog eating champions are Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi. These guys are legendary, yeah, but Kobayashi isn’t the only Japanese professional eater. One of whom is Gyaru Sone, a cute 95 pound girl. Read more about her here. These guys are definitely much smaller than their Western counterparts, but they still dominate? Of course, training, physical conditioning and discipline all help, but read on to learn a technique they utilize. Not only does it make scientific sense, it’s practically proven in its effectiveness.
